<p>HipLeash is essential what it sounds like, a leash for small dogs that is easily attached to your &#8220;hip&#8221; vie your belt or pants. the goal of this product is to break into the very competitive pet market and cut out a niche targeting small dogs. The client wanted an attractive website that would allow their potential customers to see all the benefits a hands free leash would provide them. In today&#8217;s increasingly technology driven world there is a distinct need to keep your hands free when doing most anything whether it is driving a car or walking your dog. The site needed to have the capability to illustrate this simple point while also providing an expandable e-commerce platform from which to sell future products and designs.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>the goal of the site was to not focus on the pet aspect of the product as much as the &#8220;free lifestyle&#8221; benefits the product provides. Rather than focusing all the attention of the viewer on it being a leash, let&#8217;s face it there are countless leash options available on the market, the site instead focuses their attention on how they can do almost anything while walking their dog with the HipLeash.</p>
<p>The imagery used on the home page, as well as sub-pages, almost makes the leash a secondary aspect to the picture. Instead the photos show users of the HipLeash doing everything from eating a bowl of cereal to power walking with their mp3 player. We also use images which show the dogs enjoying a certain level of freedom as their owners aren&#8217;t constantly tugging on a leash accidentally with the hands.</p>
<p>As far as the sales aspect of the site is concerned we developed an e-commerce back end that was initially far more robust than the single initial product/design offered. However the site has all the functioning capabilities the client will ever need including gift certificate options, tracking, feedback and rating systems, as well as the ability to handle an endless number of products and designs. To often clients look at the needs of the here and now and don&#8217;t think about how they will expand and grow. This site ensures that HipLeash will not need to redevelop the core functionality of their site as they grow into the pet market.</p>
<p><strong>Project Hurdles and Solutions:</strong></p>
<p>This website design was simple and straight forward in all aspects. The client fully understood their current needs as well as how their product line might grow in the future. Because of this there were no major hurdles or concerns as the site was developed.</p>

<p><strong>Client’s Needs:</strong></p>
<p>SpinGym is a product developed and designed by Forbes Riley. this is a piece of exercise equipment designed, predominantly for women, to tone the arms and chest area of the body. The client wanted a visually attractive and engaging website designed to lead people to buy the product. As the main demographic for this product is women the site needed to have a specific focus towards women as well as present information relative to the product and its impact on the physical well-being of the user.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>Because this product has such a specific target audience, women and more specifically women in the middle age range, the design of the website needed to heavily lean towards that demographic. Though pink is a &#8220;Stereotypical&#8221; color for women it is one of the most popular colors and on some level has a deep rooted connection in the female psyche. We do, after all, dress our little girls in pink to let the world know they are girls! Therefor the site design was based on the premise that pink rules the day.</p>
<p>The look and feel of the site is elegant yet powerful. Using a curtain graphic at the top of the page the site immediately has a feminine tone, ignoring the overwhelming hot pink color scheme. Incorporating a rotating JQuery banner at the top of the home page an immediate response is generated from the viewer. the images rotate between inspirational messages and informational message to not only inspire the women viewing the site but also to empower them with a sense of knowledge in the effectiveness of the SpinGym product.</p>
<p>the site content itself is fairly minimal by design. Everything on the site is used leading viewers to order their SpinGym without hesitation. Also the site incorporates such features as celebrities who have had their pictures taken using the SpinGym as well as a wide range of videos developed by Forbes Riley to demonstrate how the product should be used.</p>
<p><strong>Project Hurdles and Solutions:</strong></p>
<p>The site needed to target a specific audience which in and of itself makes the design and development of the site fairly straight forward. However because the demographic is women we needed to research current trends and habits of that demographic in order to best leverage their response for our client. This involved hours of research and study to determine the most effective way to reach the audience SpinGym desired.</p>

<p>zPaper is a long time client of Five Minute Productions and used to be known as Knowlegebin. Due to changes in the technology world they decided to re-brand and call themselves zPaper. The re-brand signified an entirely new direction that the company was taking towards its place n the technology world. As a product distributed on the Salesforce platform they needed an entirely new website which signified a major shift in thinking. The website needed to portray a distinct air of technology as well as provide a complete break from their previous identity.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>Their old site had become a text heavy website focusing on the functionality and in-depth technical analysis of their product. This was very disconcerting to users as most people don&#8217;t care how the car runs but that it runs and meets their needs. This caused Five Minute Productions, working with EPR Creations, to create a design that was open and airy.</p>
<p>We also took the opportunity to shift the focus of the company towards the solution they provide rather than the manner in which they provide it. This caused a massive shift in the type of content provided to viewers on the website. Which was the main focus of the re-branding. When attempting to sell a product or service to clients it is essential to address content from their perspective. Explaining in-depth programming features and how a web based application works to most people will cause them to lose interest almost immediately. In this case the focus became more about how the zPaper products can help a business improve their workflow and increase their productivity.</p>
<p><strong>Project Hurdles and Solutions:</strong></p>
<p>The main obstacle to overcome with this website was the de-programming of the client&#8217;s thought processes. Overcoming the hurdle that they think in one way, very interested in the how something works, and their clients thinking of why it will help them was the task at hand. Using examples and focus groups we were able to show that they would generate far more interest in their product by investing the energy they used to invest in explain the nuts and bolts to making their clients understand how their product would help their business.</p>

<p><strong>Client’s Needs:</strong></p>
<p>SmartFlow Technologies is a company which develops microscopic polymer based plastics which are used in the medical field as well as research fields in filters and other products. They needed a website which would showcase all their products as well as allow these products to be purchased on-line. The website itself needed to be dynamic and visually interesting showcasing their extreme level of expertise in the field while still maintain a level of &#8220;scientific purity.&#8221; Unlike the usual product based e-commerce site this site has a distinct  target demographic of the scientific and medical communities so the website needed to reflect the brand and image of a company dedicated specifically to those fields.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>Our approach to the website was not a standard approach. In general when we design a website for a company selling a product or products we focus on conveying that project within a shell of the overall company brand. In this case we focused solely on the industry in which the products were being sold, basically making the products an after-thought to the overall presentation of the site.</p>
<p>Using this strategy we were able to design a website that has a very scientific look and feel. The overall color scheme was pulled from the logo as well as the microscopic imagery shown across the top of the design. Once the overall look and feel was established we built the e-commerce engine around it creating the overall functioning site that exists today. There is a lot of information that is actually required on the site which is also normally not necessary when presenting a product. Usually with a product there are some technical details that a small fraction of the viewing audience cares about that is built into each products description via bullet points or a tech sheet. However, again because of the field in which SmartFlow Technologies operates, there was a distinct need to present a library of data and information about what they do, and how they do it, as well as how these procedures impact the quality of their products.</p>
<p><strong>Project Hurdles and Solutions:</strong></p>
<p>The very nature of this site forced us to rethink our strategy for building a website for a company which sells a physical product. It was a great process and challenge to stop, assess, and address the needs of this particular client due to the outside the norm requirement of thinking. SmartFlow Technologies went from a word of mouth hand-shake based company to one that has a website which is now an integral part of their daily business.</p>

<p><strong>Client’s Needs:</strong></p>
<p>Signature Keepsakes is a picture frame made of metal that allows people to etch messages and signatures via a specially designed pen. The packaging needed to show the beautiful metal frame while still showing some aspect of how people would use it.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>The nature of this product made this package design a little challenging. The frame, as previously stated, allows people to etch directly onto the metal which is a somewhat foreign concept to guests at special events. the traditional manner is to have a guest book which people sign but this takes that concept and wraps it around a picture of the event creating a timeless keepsake that can be displayed like any other photograph. The solution was to create a heavy duty box that surrounded the frame while leaving a die cut across the face allowing people to see the metal. People do love shiny things. However we needed to create a film that would cover the metal, without diminishing its shine, that would protect it from scratches and scrapes.</p>
<p>This also left very little room on the front surface for explanation as to how the product should be used. this was addressed by leaving sections in the corners that left just the right amount of room for a simple visual explanation. The back is completely dedicated to how it can be used and why it is a more elegant solution to the traditional guest book. The elegant purple color was chosen as a sign of prosperity and elegance and is carried through the package. All the scroll work was drawn to add that extra &#8220;wedding&#8221; impact to the piece.</p>

<p><strong>Client’s Needs:</strong></p>
<p>Dipe &#8216;N Go is a portable baby changing station that secures to the back of your vehicle. It is designed to roll up and be portable for anyone who has an infant and still wants to go out and do things without being concerned for the often lacking sanitary conditions of a public changing area. They needed a package that reflected that as well as the fun active nature of the product itself.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>Pulling colors that complimented the overall color options of the Dipe &#8216;N Go product was the foundation for this package design. The soft yellow overall color of the box reflects the yellow from the logo while not contrasting with the contained frabric, which comes in a variety of color options. The large image used on the front of the package not only clearly demonstrats what the product is but also includes a car as well as a happy mother and child. This reinforces the concept of how much easier the Dipe &#8216;N Go can make someone&#8217;s life who is on the go. And, as the product is geared more towards women then men, it shows a positive interaction between a mother and her baby.</p>
<p>The side and back panels are used for more in-depth information about the product including it&#8217;s dimensions, cleaning requirements and other aspects that a user might be interested in before purchasing. In its totality the package was designed to hold the product without bowing or swelling once the product was inside. It is also designed to stand on it&#8217;s own or hang from pin in the store. This maximizes the retailers options for displaying it, especially since shelf space is one of the biggest concerns for buyers.</p>

<p><strong>Client’s Needs:</strong></p>
<p>BinkiBear, a company with a line of products that combines the comfort of a stuffed animal with the a pacifier, needed a box that would show their products to customers and still offer a level of protection for the stuffed animal itself.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>Because of the nature of a stuffed animal it was essential when designing this package that the customer be able to feel the softness of the animal. As you have undoubtedly seen, most stuffed animals do not actually have a package. They are just packed onto the store shelves for people to handle and see. However, this product is not only a stuffed animal but also a holder for a child&#8217;s pacifier. This presented two problems: 1) the pacifier needed to be sealed in its own protective container to keep it free of germs and 2) it needed to have some protection so people couldn&#8217;t just rip the pacifier out of the package. It was for this reason a box was designed for the products.</p>
<p>The box design is fairly simple on the surface. It is just a straight forward box with a die cut out of the front. But, the die-cut was designed specifically to show a maximum amount of the product, allowing the consumer to feel how soft it is, while having a good portion  of the product covered by the box itself. This section of the packaging is where the plastic bag, which holds the pacifier portion of the product, is stored and secured to the inside of the box. The color scheme was designed to be bright and eye catching to children and adults alike luring them in when surrounded by &#8220;package free&#8221; stuffed animals.</p>

<p>A package needed to be designed for the New Each Shaver product. This product is an extension handle for everyday razors designed to help people with back problems or other needs where bending could be problematic.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>Using a clamshell design Five Minute Productions created a simple attractive package design which allows the viewer to see the entire product. Because of the dimensions of the product, a long cylindrical tube shape, the package design needed to maximize what ultimately would be an awkward amount of space. The main focus of this product was to be an &#8220;As Seen on TV&#8221; style product meaning it needed to have quick hit information and be as simple a presentation as possible.</p>

<p><strong>Client’s Needs:</strong></p>
<p>HipLeash needed a package design, specifically a clamshell, which could both hold their leash product as well as display it in an attractive and alluring manner.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>The key to any leash package design, or any product which requires holding, is showing the product in a way that displays how it is handled and manipulated. With a clamshell package it becomes very expensive, relative to other clamshell designs, to have the product exposed allowing the user to manipulate the product. Pricing increases when the clamshell has significant molding, like a hole around the handle. For this reason we designed a multi-layered set of inserts which would properly display the handle of the leash. There is a high impact insert that crosses in front of the leash with a simple designed background panel for the front. On the backside of the package there is a third insert which conforms to the shape of the clamshell which gives all the vital information pertaining to the product. Using simple images to display the function as well as a close-up up shot of the leash we were able to create a relaxed feel to the package which only enhances the use of the product.</p>

<p>Covast needed a single print ad for a trade publication in their industry. The added needed to be text heavy and direct viewers to explore their website.</p>
<p><strong>Five Minute Production’s Solution:</strong></p>
<p>Using the colors from their website and generating a very &#8220;Web&#8221; look and feel was the key to this print ad. The grid like layout of the design gave an immediate sense of a web based service while also allowing for a large graphic to be used on one side. The bridge was chosen to visually expand upon the nature of Covast&#8217;s dynamic web services while the text explains a little about their services as well as their company.</p>
